The whole wedding ceremony was very informal, with kids running around and a number of people wondering around talking and not listening. I have found that to be very Chinese. The ceremony starts out with the groom carrying his bride piggyback to the ceremony. So that's why the bride wears a slit wedding dress! Apparently in old days, rich weddings would have the bride carried from her house to the groom's house on a litter (or sedan chair) by four or eight people. The groom would walk along beside her. The piggyback thing must be the proletariat version.
