Rendezvous Camping

Our family has done pre-1840's camping for many years, it is called 'Rendezvous'. Everything about your camp must be pre 1840 - the clothing, tent, tools, cooking utensils, etc. Different families are experts on different time periods. You see French trappers, woodland indians, colonial era, mountainmen... We are early american (around the 1780's). There are competitions for flintlock guns, tomahawks, and bow and arrows. We buy and sell a lot, on trading blankets. We eat/share big meals and listen to great musicians around the fire in the evenings.

We go a couple times a year with a couple of other families on our street. It's a great time to relax and is a lot of fun. I never have taken too many pictures of this because digital cameras aren't part of the 1800's! The first couple pictures indicate how long we have been doing this, the rest of the pictures are from this fall:
